Central Missouri Community Credit Union is pleased to announce our partnership with Go Direct, a national campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Banks, to encourage people who get Social Security and other federal benefit payments by check to switch to direct deposit.
Go Direct reaches out to people about direct deposit in many different ways, including media, advertising and Web sites in English and Spanish. But the most powerful avenue for getting out the message is face-to-face communication – and that’s where CMCCU comes in.
We are a familiar, trusted source of information for the members we serve, and can help them make this small, but important change in their financial well-being. Central Missouri Community Credit Union encourages you to participate in this worthy effort by calling the number at the bottom of this article or helping the people in your life discover the difference Direct Deposit with CMCCU can make.
Direct deposit is simply the best way to receive Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments. Direct deposit eliminates the risk of lost or stolen checks, reduces fraud, helps protect against identity theft and gives people more control over their money. Plus, direct deposit provides people with immediate access to their money from virtually everywhere.
Direct deposit also saves taxpayers millions of dollars. If every current federal benefit check recipient switched to direct deposit, it would save taxpayers about $130 million a year. Almost all the money saved remains in the Social Security Trust Fund – a benefit to all Americans for years to come.
Furthermore, the Go Direct campaign makes it easy for people who get Social Security and SSI to sign up for direct deposit – they can call the toll-free helpline (800) 333-1795 or sign up online at www.GoDirect.org. Members may also stop by any CMCCU branch to sign up for Direct Deposit of their Social Security or SSI payments.
